JazzZ reminds me of Asa and Macy Gray in equal measure. Here’s hoping “
Somebody” is the start of something special. I’m pretty sure we’ll be hearing more from her soon.
“JazzZ new Nigerian Jazz prodigy releases cover of Drake’s Marvin’s Room,
infused with some old classical jazz lyrics and a little bit a Naija
hip-hop with random drops of reggae here and there. This is fusion music
at its best.
Hanjara Atta known popularly at JazzZ
hails from Kogi, was born in Warri and raised in Lagos. This diversity
in upbringing definitely played major roles in her very unique sound
that taps into various genre’s of music with emphasis on jazz. JazzZ also featured on Omo Akin’s hit single “Do Me Wayo” were she provided soothing back-up vocals.
JazzZ inspirations as
far music is concerned range form Frank Sinatra to Ella Fitzgerald to
Sam Cooke to Asa as so on. On her latest single. “Somebody”, JazzZ describes it as music she could relate to at a particular time in her life.
Download, Listen and Enjoy.”
